Just S-T-A-R-T!

It’s been awhile…COVID man! I know I’ve been super lucky during the whole pandemic. I’ve kept both my full-time job and one of my two side hustles. My family is healthy and all of us (except for the kiddos) have been vaccinated. Things are even opening up here in San Diego again, with all of California opening back up on June 15. Not quite sure what that will look like, but looking forward to it none-the-less. AND…I get to work from home sometimes, which is so nice. It gives me a taste of what it will be like once I can create a business that allows me the freedom to choose my workplace.

I’m just taking a quick moment to post this as I need to get back in the game. I keep having starts and stops in terms of focusing on my future (which is so LAME because it’s my future – hello!?!) but anyway, it is what it is. So, I’m going to try to post more often so I keep myself accountable for progressing and moving forward. And – I’m paying for the domain and the WordPress site, so I might as well get something out of this and hopefully help others as well. If anyone is reading this 🙂

Anyway, I’ve learned so much about myself and this process already. I know that I want to create a fulfilling career and life that allows me to spend more time with my family and create my own rules. I know I want a career with a purpose where I’m not just selling disposable products that will end up in the landfill. AND… after working on my two side hustles…I know I don’t want a service job. The whole point of whatever it is I’m building is to allow me more freedom, not less. Right now I’m working like crazy. (I know I should be grateful as so many people have lost their jobs during the pandemic.) So, please don’t see this as me complaining about having an abundance of work, but it’s more of me acknowledging that I’m working on creating something I don’t want. I was listening to a podcast where Amy Porterfield was being interviewed and she said she did the SAME. EXACT. THING. So I’m not alone. But man! It’s funny because I really didn’t think about things too much, or even layout my “plan” (hint: there isn’t one… ) for by business. I just jumped into things. The good news is that by STARTING and just jumping in, I know what I want and don’t want.

So, my advice to you is this: If you have a plan – great! Start executing it.

If you don’t have a plan – just S.T.A.R.T. Start somewhere, start anywhere. By starting, you’ll quickly find out what you want to do and what you don’t. In the e-Commerce world it’s called “failing fast” because you learn so much quickly and you can just iterate, pivot or change as needed.

So, take my advice (I’m clearly not an expert in any way…) START! You’ll be happy you did. I know I am.

Best of luck to you!

Olga
